From Frumpy to Fabulous: Lea Michele Reflects on Rachel's Style Evolution on Glee

Lea Michele's fashion sense is flawless, natch. But once upon a time, in the far off land of Lima, Michele's Glee counterpart, Rachel Berry, has not always shared the same effortlessly chic wardrobe. We all remember the dark days of season one, filled with a rainbow array of argyle sweaters, pantsuits and even the dreaded crotch bow. (More on that in a bit.)Now, five years later, our shining star's attire has been upgraded from frumpy to fabulous, and no one is more thrilled about Rachel's style evolution than Michele herself. "I love Glee just as much today, if not more, than I did on day one," the 27-year-old star recently gushed to E! News at the 100th Episode celebration. "She's had some different vibes over the years," the "Louder" singer recalled in the interview above. Although Miss Berry's fashion choices were initially one of reasons that we fell in love with her quirky, uncomforting personality, Michele admits she is glad that Rachel has ditched the reindeer sweaters. "I'm really loving right now in New York we've done some really cool coats and boots and hats and things like that. Definitely better than the stockings, and the sweaters, and the penny loafers, one hundred percent," Michele added with a big smile. In a surprising twist, the fan-favorite actress divulged that Rachel's conservative clothes were actually a huge turn on to the guys on set. "I mean weirdly enough the guys loved it," she laughed. "I don't know, but like everyone they thought it was so sexy, and I was like, I look horrible right now. I've got like a bulldog on my sweater or like a horse or something like that, and they thought it was great, so I don't know." Regardless of the items in Rachel's closet, Michele admits that she is still thrilled to play such a dynamic and evolving character. "This show I just so special to me and I'm so proud to be a part of it," she said.
