Vietnam refuses to host the 18th Asian Games in 2019 stating that the country is not in a financial position to responsible for the games. It makes Vietnam the third country which refuses to host the games.

The PM said the Politburo, the party secretariat and the government were originally prepared to host regional and international games, including Asiad, to help the country’s sporting and socio-economic development.
However, he said, Vietnam did not have enough experience at hosting such big sporting events.
The PM did not approve the Asiad organization plan. There were different opinions about the purpose and meaning of hosting the event, particularly about funding.
The 17th Asian Games will be held in Incheon, South Korea. The games will be on September 19, 2014 to October 4, 2014 (16 days).
Asian Games or Asiad is the biggest sport games in the world after Olympic Games. The games is held every four years and the host countries are regulating one after another starting the first games in New Delhi, India.
